About Karisa

1) I hate rollercoasters. The "stomach-feeling" is my least favorite sensation ever. That and spreading cold butter on soft bread. Oof.

2) I love rice (short-grain, Mexican, and citrus-lime), baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, brownies, cheesecake, kimchi-fried rice, soondubu jigae (BCD), Mendocino Farms' chicken prosciutto sandwich, and Chipotle. Someday, I will write a book called The Amazing Rice, with a single grain of rice for each country.

3) I have a black belt in taekwondo. Anything else related to sports makes me miserable.

4) I was Miss Yorba Linda's Outstanding Teen. I was the true Mia Thermopolis of the pageant, tripping on my dress during opening number and eating meatball subs in my gown.

5) I have a deadly fear of grasshoppers. (I seriously considered not putting that fact on here out of fear that it'll be used against me.)

​

6) I dream about living in the Regency Era. I would love to wear little white gloves and beaded dresses. My first "celebrity-crush" was Mr. Knightley from the Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma. (Swoon.)

 

7) My dream in high school was to be the Asian Taylor Swift. I used to write and sing love songs to Jesus on the guitar (and if you really YouTube stalk me, you can find some archived oldies.)

 

8) I have ADHD and OCD. I didn't get a diagnosis until this past year, but discovering this brought immense healing as God helped me to love the me that He made me to be (when I told Him how disappointed I am with myself, He told me that He loves this Karisa - the real, messy, flailing, panicky Karisa).

 

9) I have five tattoos that I got over the course of two months. 

 

10) My favorite place in the world is currently my bed. I am an extroverted introvert and could spend hours hermit-ing in my room, listening to curated playlists and reading armloads of books from my local library.

11) I am Korean-American but speak more Spanish than I do Korean. I love Korean dramas (True Beauty, My First First Love, Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Extraordinary Attorney Woo).

12) I have an obsession with the color pink. Almost everything I own is rose gold.

​

13) I love dressing comfortably and hate wearing jeans or closed toes shoes that require socks. You'll almost never find me in either of them.

​

14) I moved 13 times across 4 states before third grade (Massachusetts, Oregon, Rhode Island, and California (of course!).

​

15) I am truly atrocious at spelling, hopeless at navigating, and impossible when it comes to math. Double fun fact: I once overshot our freeway exit by 22+ miles. That was the last time my (gracious) friends trusted me to navigate.

​

16) The fictional character I think best represents me is either Jess Day from New Girl or Anne of Green Gables.
